About Wurm Unlimited - Modding & Discussions

Post by Kenabil »

This forum was created for continued Wurm Unlimited discussions, independently from those of Wurm Online. Previously, the only public web sites for Wurm Unlimited discussions have been the forums at wurmonline.com, or optionally at Steam. And when the Unlimited forums at Wurm Online was moved to the bottom, it was decided that the Wurm Unlimited community would need its own independent forums and channels for communication.

In general each server has been hosting its own forums and communication channels, which only targets each individual server's community. Unfortunately, that means, each server becomes an island on its own, with little or no knowledge of what's happening on other servers. This limits the possibility with strength in numbers, which means that the more servers there are, and the better servers there are, the more players will be attracted to play Wurm Unlimited, and the more it will help all servers grow in population. A global community sharing ideas, mods and tools and knowledge, the better all servers will become.

Each Wurm Unlimited server is a unique eco-system. Even if two servers would start with identical maps, after a few weeks, there will be different fauna, plants will spread in different directions, and once players start building roads and towns and villages, the servers will soon become completely different from each others. What is even more important is that in time each server develops it's individual lore and history, events and cultures. Add to that configurations and mods, making each server have its own set of game mechanics. With all that in mind, there is a richness in Wurm Unlimited which is unlike any other game, and which makes Wurm Unlimited much much greater than Wurm Online, at least from the perspective of a Wurm Unlimited enthusiast. Players will move between servers and get a feel for the worlds, and will eventually find a world to call home. Some players can't stand the slow pace on one server, the reversed situation applies for other players, some prefer a more vanilla type of game play, others the QoL options provided by talented modders. This makes each server its own niche, and none is better than any other, just different, and from the player perspective - a matter of individual preferences.

So, this is the reason why Wurm Unlimited needs a strong global community, working together, helping each others out.

In addition to this forum, we've got a Discord server with the same name as the forum, we've also created a Wiki, for collecting documentation and information about mods, servers, lore and other things relevant for the Wurm Unlimited community.
