Mysterious steel

Post by Kenabil »

This is a mystery to me, I'd like to hear from others on other servers. I can't find anything about it when searching: on Awakening steel tools and items takes damage as usual, but with enough skill, when repairing steel items their QL doesn't go down. Is this normal? If so, then are there any other metals with the same behaviour? I've looked into the server code and there is nothing there to suggest steel would get different treatment, only that steel seem to have properties that simply reduce the lowered QL to zero. Please let me know if this is unique for Awakening or a common phenomenon on other servers as well :notsure:

Is it just steel that shows as "mysterious"? On another server, I used to be a certain level of GM (I think it's 3?) that could spawn items, but they always turned out as mysterious. Higher levels of GM could create normal, functional items, but this particular level could only create unusable "mysterious" ones. I wonder if that's what's happening for you?

Hello Batta! No, actually, it's when normal players with fairly good repair skill is repairing any normal steel items with damage, the QL doesn't decrease. The steel items could be created by any normal player. I've noticed however, that some steel items does lose QL while others doesn't; for instance, my steel chain jacket loses QL after repair sometimes, while the other steel chain armour items doesn't, probably it's because it has higher weight, and it doesn't happen every time I repair - only once in a while.
